The Yankees shored up the DH spot in their lineup with the addition of Matt Holliday Sunday. Holliday spent the last eight seasons playing in St.Louis and will come to now play in a very hitter friendly Yankee Stadium. Though Holliday is heading into his age 37 season, if healthy there is still plenty left in the tank and he can definitely be a difference maker and protection in the order for Gary Sanchez.
During his stint with the Cardinals, Holliday hit .293 with 156 home runs and 616 RBI over 982 games. His numbers have taken a hit over the past couple of seasons but this could be due to the injuries he has faced. The Yankees are in a good spot with all their young guns coming up through the minors, so a nice veteran addition on a cheap one year deal is just what the doctor ordered for the Yanks.
With Holliday added to the lineup, the Yankees could boast a top heavy lineup that could compete with the best in the league in 2017.
