Boston Red Sox Key Free Agents

The Red Sox have a nice mix of young and veteran players on their squad and look a few pieces away from contending for a title. The loss of David Ortiz will be a big void to fill but they are not losing much outside of him.

Koji Uehara

Uehara is heading into his age 41 season but has shown longevity and the ability to still get batters out. He will not be a hot commodity on the market this offseason but a team that is looking for some bullpen help could take a flier on the veteran hurler.

Brad Ziegler

Ziegler played for both the Diamondbacks and Red Sox in 2016 and was effective. He finished the year appearing in 69 games while posting a 2.25 ERA. The Red Sox could look to bring back the submariner but it is looking like they will see what he demands on the open market first.

Junichi Tazawa

Tazawa is an interesting case as he is only 30 years old and still has plenty of mileage left. Boston has a good standing with Japanese players so he could be in store for a reunion and is definitely looking for a pay raise.

Aaron Hill

The ultimate utility player looks to be on the move again. Hill is getting up there in age so he likely won’t be in high demand but he can still handle the bat and play just about anywhere on the diamond.
