The Atlanta Braves signed Jacob Lindgren to a one-year deal after the Yankees failed to tender him a contract. The exact details of the deal have yet to be released but it is likely minimal. Now you may be thinking why this could be big news? Well, let us take a look at exactly who Jacob Lindgren is.
Lindgren made his MLB debut in 2015 for the Yankees out of the bullpen making seven appearances while pitching to the tune of a 5.14 ERA. These numbers do not stand out as someone who could make an impact at the big league level but the thing that does about Lindgren has to be his his K/9 numbers that sat right around 14 during his time in the minors. Lindgren is scheduled to miss the entirety of the 2017 due to Tommy John surgery but if he can regain form heading into 2018, he could be someone that could close the door for the Braves in upcoming years. Do not get us wrong here, Lindgren may very well be someone who never really makes an impact at the big league level, but it is worth noting he has been successful out of the bullpen in the minors and if healthy could be a solid bullpen arm.
Let us know what you think about Lindgren and if he will ever be able to make an impact at the big league level moving forward!
